Dear friends,
Today we are going to start telling you about the tools we use in game development🚀
So, today we are going to tell you about Nanite, which is a new system of virtualized geometry in Unreal Engine 5 that uses a new internal mesh format and rendering technology to render details at the pixel scale and large number of objects.
And our developer Pave will be able to tell you a little more about it in a short interview format:
What are the benefits of using the Nanite system?Nanite allows you to use very high polygonal environment assemblies (even megascans) in your projects, without paying fps. It makes a very detailed picture. It also eliminates the need to make lods for the scene, which reduces production time.
What processes are you already doing with it?We're starting to use it in the whole environment, since we're using data with high quality of detail. Rocks, tree trunks, environments.
What disadvantages in the development process with this tool could you point out?
Since the technology is new, - we can't optimize the foliage. Also, if we don't pay for fps, we pay for the weight of the game. Games which use nanite will weigh a lot. It is also recommended to use SSD, for this technology, both for storage and for use.
What do you think of this tool? This is a technology at the very beginning of its development. The developers are betting on it as well as other technologies introduced with the UE5 release. It means it will be improved and the horizons of its application will be expanded. I think this technology has a future in game and film production.
And we also want to show you an example of how this tool works with a simple video (looks great to me😍)
