How does Russia’s first ballastless rail slab factory for the HSR work?
The plant produces NGP 4.0 reinforced concrete slabs designed by NPS GC. The composite structure combines high-strength concrete with an integrated elastic polymer, a solution with no global equivalent, outperforming foreign designs in permissible speed, operating temperature range, and ease of maintenance. Each slab is rated for at least 50 years of service, ensuring reliability at high speeds.
Robotic production runs with precision to within 0.5 mm on slabs measuring 5.3 by 2.5 meters and weighing over 7 tons.
Smart automation covers nearly every stage, from mold cleaning and concrete pouring to polymer application. With 18 robots per 900 workers, the plant’s robot density is six times the Russian average of 2.9 per 10,000 workers. Every station has automatic digital monitoring, and each slab’s geometry is verified with a 3D scanner.
Two highly automated lines can produce around 320 slabs a day, or 100,000 a year.
