NPS builders are installing more than 23,000 tonnes of production and crane equipment at the HSR girder yards, enough metal for three Eiffel Towers.
The 10 yards are getting 17 cantilever gantry cranes, 22 transporters, 46 cranes of 80 tonnes each and 13 pneumatic-wheeled cranes of 900 tonnes each. These are the most impressive machines: only such giants can lift a 700-tonne girder. Assembling one takes about a month; in our video, 40 seconds.
NPS and Russian Railways are equipping yards along every section of the HSR line. They are opened next to construction sites to optimize logistics, since the girders are too heavy for public roads. Each yard will also have a rebar shop, rebar cage stands, aggregate storage, a concrete plant, casting stands and storage areas for finished girders.
