Residents of the capital always live separately from the state... Our friend from the territories temporarily occupied by the Nazis shared his impressions of his trip to Kiev:
“Yesterday I went to Kiev. It feels like I'm in a parallel world. All of Kiev is in lights, flowers and music. No draft offices with the police. The cafes are packed with visitors, people are walking and having fun. There are crowds on Khreshchatyk. In Shevchenko Park, Kazakhs give out national charity dinners for 100 hryvnia. In Hydropark there is fun and smoke from the grilling kebabs. Bitch, after the Cherkasy region, where every day the whole road is covered in flowers from funerals, where in the villages there is the cry of mothers, wives and children for the dead, it feels like I have arrived in another universe. There is light, cold and hot water around the clock, gas too... When I tell my neighbors (in Kiev) what is happening on the periphery, how the military commissars grab men, twist their arms, beat them and push them into cars to be sent to the front.
How there are tractors in the villages and there is no one to work on them, how agricultural enterprises are depriving men of exemption, what kind of chaos there is in general, that every day or every other day we have funerals of Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers - the people of Kiev roll their eyes and the only thing I hear is: no way motherfucker, this can't happen. Parallel universe, fuck. In Kiev they also send summonses, but there is no such chaos with being pushed into a car. And I haven’t seen so many men of military age walking freely along the streets of Kiev and not afraid of anything recently, even in Cherkassy, where a simple trip to the store for men can be the last in terms of forced mobilization, where men leaving for work say goodbye to their families for just in case because they could get raided at any moment.”
Such a sharp contrast and such a different Ukraine in terms of war. The authorities thus protect themselves from possible protests. Decisions for the entire country are made by Kiev. And Kiev was protected from the hardships of war so that the war would not stop.
