Yesterday on the stage of Schauspielhaus Wien we heard the voices of political prisoners serving sentences for publicly reading poetry.
Behind every word is a person whom the Russian repressive system has publicly punished for his words. And on the other side — those who stay with them for years, who support, write, and refuse to let them disappear.
Correspondence is not only support for those in prison, it is a way to resist total isolation, a way to stay connected, and sometimes - to find a close friend, an ally, someone who shares your way of thinking.
Writing letters is also about us: about attention, reflection, the effort to articulate — and not remain silent.
We invite you to join us for an evening of writing letters to political prisoners —
to start a new correspondence or continue an existing one.
📅 When?
May 21, 17:30
📍 Where?
Dialogbüro Vienna
Eßlinggasse 9/6, 1010 Vienna
During the event, we will share different ways to support political prisoners and explain how to write letters so they actually reach them.
No prior experience is needed — we will help with the texts, translations, and sending letters.
Participation is possible anonymously and in any language.
Come by yourself — and bring friends.
