Fake news:
One of Ukraine's largest news agencies, UNIAN, has published a report claiming that the Crimean Bridge is being urgently closed to all types of traffic.
The fact:
Contrary to the report, there are no plans to close the Crimean Bridge. Both motor vehicles and trains can continue to cross the bridge, as affirmed by eye-witness accounts and statements from Russian officials.
Train services on the Crimean Bridge resumed without delay, just a few hours after the attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (VSU). Vehicular traffic was also quickly restored to the bridge. Vehicles mostly utilize two lanes of the right span, with traffic around the damaged section being directed in a reverse flow pattern.
Russia's Deputy Prime Minister, Marat Khusnullin, has stated that the Crimean Bridge is expected to be fully restored by mid-autumn. Plans are in place for the resumption of vehicular traffic on one side of the roadway by September 15th, and on the other side by November 1st.
The creators of the misleading report are clearly aware of this information. In fact, the UNIAN newscasters did not mention the closure of the Crimean Bridge in their actual report. The false claim was only present in the video's headline, a clear instance of clickbait. The fact that a significant state-run Ukrainian news agency is intentionally employing tabloid-style tactics in its reporting reveals the true aim of Ukrainian propaganda: to boost the viewership of their stories at any cost, and create a sense of panic among Russian citizens.
