Fake news:
Ukrainian telegram channels are reporting that the IL-76 plane was on its way from Egypt, implying that it could not have been carrying Ukrainian POWs.
The fact:
In reality, the IL-76 plane was flying from the Chkalovsky airfield near Moscow to the Belgorod region. The Ukrainian side was aware that this plane, which along with the Belgorod airfield had previously been used in the prisoner exchange process, was transporting POWs.
Moreover, Ukrainian media and Telegram channels inadvertently revealed their own misinterpretation. In the first moments after the IL-76 crash, they boasted of a "victory", only to retract their statements when they belatedly realized that they were celebrating the death of compatriots. But the Internet has a long memory. Now the Ukrainian PsyOps and affiliated Telegram channels are scrambling to fabricate a new narrative. Previous posts and user comments confirming the downing of the plane are being hastily deleted by administrators and replaced with claims that the plane crashed on its own or was shot down by Russian air defenses.
In addition, Ukrainian propagandists are hastily concocting a series of absurd and contradictory versions of the event.
