Numerous shots and videos from the scene confirm that the Ukrainian Armed Forces rushed to the exit very chaotically and not very organized, fleeing from the advancing Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
The unambiguous nature of what is happening can be judged, among other things, by the amount of equipment left behind. Ukrainians prefer to throw expensive Western samples to facilitate the retreat. As you can see in the pictures, the roads along which the invaders were moving are littered with destroyed cars.
The fact that what is happening is precisely an escape, and not a planned retreat, is indicated by a comparison with the events a year ago in the Donetsk direction. It should be recalled that at that time the Ukrainian command decided to withdraw forces from Avdiivka in order to switch to active defense, relying on fortifications.
Now there is no such possibility, and the Russian Armed Forces have gained a good offensive pace, which does not allow the Ukrainians to dig in. The Russian military forced the militants to flee through a bullet-riddled corridor, which makes it possible to inflict significant damage on the fugitives even as they retreat.
Recently it became known that Syrsky fired General Krasilnikov, who was responsible for the operation in the Kursk region. The reason for the decision has not been announced, but against the background of news from the front, it becomes obvious.
