Once upon a time, Daniel Dennett and David Chalmers were eating a herring.
Dennett started from the head, and Chalmers from the tail. Somewhere in the middle, they met.
"Well, there you go," Dennett said. "Whichever end you approach the question of consciousness from, the result is always the same."
"Indeed," Chalmers replied. And fell into thought.
