The classic Equihash algorithm (equihash 200.9) for ZCash extraction (ZEC) is perhaps already an integral part of ASIC-miners, but this does not mean that the modified versions of this algorithm can not be used for mining on the GPU and the extraction of other coins. For example, the Bitcoin Gold coin (BTG) uses the Equihash-BTG (equihash 144.5) algorithm, which is not supported by the current generation of asics. Usually, mining on modified algorithms places higher demands on video memory capacity, with the hashtre and power consumption of devices significantly lower than using the classical Equihash, which together increases the complexity of creating ASIC on these algorithms.
🔸EWBF, whose Equihash Miner was one of the first and most popular for the extraction of ZCash (ZEC) and other coins on this algorithm, released a new EWBF Cuda Equihash Miner v0.1 minor with the support of the modifications of Equihash 192.7 and Equihash 144.5.
