Today is World Post Day!
Mail is unimaginable without stamps. These tiny pieces of paper are far more than proof of postage.
Stamps often capture the biggest events and achievements: the scale of construction, the strength of trades, the triumph of engineering. The opening of the Moscow Metro, remarkable bridges, the launch of the BAM railway, each one frozen like a frame from history.
No wonder philatelists around the world hunt down certain issues. For them, every such stamp is a small historical artifact.
P.S. Tiny stamps, monumental history.
