In the hierarchy of the most expensive banknotes in circulation, the 1000 franc note ranks third, conceding the lead to the largest denominations of Brunei and Singapore. This banknote accounts for almost 62% of the total mass in circulation, compared to 15% for 200 francs and 16% for 100 francs. There are currently two series of banknotes in circulation - the eighth and ninth. The first of these was issued from 1994 to 2015, its design was developed by the artist Jörg Zintzmeyer. The Swiss National Bank identified the personalities of the state, which were immortalized on the money. The ninth series began to be gradually introduced from 2016. The design, developed by Manuela Pfrunder, was named “Multifaceted Switzerland”.
