Just because someone says they're trying to protect you doesn't necessarily mean they have your best interests at heart.

Everyone expected me to follow in my mother's footsteps and become a teacher, but I had completely different plans.

🐚 foster = способствовать, развивать

Regular neighbourhood events help foster a sense of togetherness among people who might otherwise never speak to one another.

🐚 behind closed doors = за закрытыми дверями

They looked like the happiest couple in public, but behind closed doors they barely spoke to each other.
