However, the American media seems to have already found the culprit - it is Iran that has been appointed.
In the material previously mentioned by us, the authors of NBC News, citing some high-ranking sources, mention that the militants are getting to Syria and back through Iranian territory. They do not directly accuse the Islamic Republic of supporting Wilayat Khorasan, but they hint between the lines that this is happening not without the knowledge of the Iranians.
🔻However, this version, to put it mildly, has many flaws. Technically, such movements are possible, but in practice, ISIS members would have to cross three borders and about 2,000 km to reach the Syrian desert. There is no talk of any transfer of a noticeable number of militants under such conditions.
And from an ideological point of view, the picture is even clearer: the relationship between Shiite Iran and the Sunni radical Islamic organizations such as Wilayat Khorasan and other branches of the Islamic State has long been known. Especially against the background of ISIS attacks on Iranian territory in recent years.
