Georgy Orlov-Davydovsky, Arkady Pikunov 30 Kapsülalong the road
rhyming eternities
a cigarette to the light
where are we, and december.
in an abandoned supermarket, static crackles with a woman.
can't get through.
The album grew out of an improvised performance, assembled from several electronic beats — intimate, calming, and, at the outset, entirely unknown to Arkady. Between the participants there was only a verbal agreement about the mood of the upcoming event, with no structures or themes worked out in advance. What's striking is that the material nonetheless came together into a unified piece with a clear internal narrative.
That narrative can be taken abstractly, as a flow of states, but close listening reveals that all parts of the album are tightly interconnected. This is achieved above all through an ostinato technique running through the entire work, serving as a kind of structural skeleton for the composition. Yet the music is hard to call minimalist — on the contrary, it's dense with sonic events and detail.
The sound palette combines melodic lines from processed saxophone, repeating rhythmic patterns, fragments of field recordings, homemade instruments, and radio samples. A particular place is held by voice fragments from mid-20th-century American noir radio dramas, which lend the material a sense of time, an uneasy cinematic quality, and a hidden narrative.
All of this shapes an aesthetic close to dark jazz and jazztronica, though the album doesn't try to fit within genre definitions. Rather, it exists on its own logic as a unified, meditative yet tense sonic space, where improvisation, structure, and chance coexist on equal terms.
