Они замедляли производство фильма в разы, приходилось постоянно чинить и поддерживать работоспособность кукол, с некоторыми работало по несколько операторов, что еще сильнее усложняло постановку кадра и работу персонажей в кадре, но все эти усилия того стоили и сильно добавляли реалистичности.
Гизмо, Страйп, Могавк и компания говорят несколько понятных слов, короткие фразы, но в основном они издают много звуков и зловещего смеха. Во время съемок фильма в большинстве операторы кукол передвигали различных Могваев и Гремлинов без конкретного диалога.
Поэтому Хоуи Мэндел, Фрэнк Уэлкер и другие актеры озвучания в основном рифмовали и импровизировали, основываясь на движениях кукол уже после съемок.

To bring the Mogwai (Chinese for "demons" or "evil spirits") and Gremlins to life, the filmmakers used highly complex animatronic puppets, an impressive feat for 1983–84. These puppets significantly slowed down production, as they required constant repair and maintenance; some even required multiple operators, further complicating shot composition and puppet performance, but all these efforts were worth it and added a great deal of realism..
Gizmo, Stripe, Mohawk, and the rest of the gang speak the few intelligible words and short phrases, but for the most part, they communicate through various noises and sinister laughter. During the filming of the movie, the puppeteers mostly manipulated the various Mogwai and Gremlins without specific dialogue.
That's why, Howie Mandel, Frank Welker, and the other voice actors largely improvised and rhymed their lines in post-production, basing their performances on the puppets' movements.
