✅ Bitcoin trades around $86K as October crypto activity continues
Bitcoin is trading around $86K on October 6, holding near the $86,000 level as the market continues to react to a series of major developments across the crypto sector.
✅ $6M worth of wstETH drained from a Base vault
A vault on Base was exploited for around $6 million in wstETH after an attacker abused a whitelist permission on a newly deployed contract. The attacker used the access to borrow against the vault’s Aave V3 position and move the funds. Aave’s core contracts were not compromised.

On-chain investigator ZachXBT revealed that he posed as a customer of a Chinese laundering syndicate and fronted nearly $350,000 to track crypto linked to North Korean hacking group Lazarus. The operation helped trace more than $12 million in Bybit exploit funds, while Tether later froze related USDT. ZachXBT said his investigations have contributed to more than $75 million in freezes connected to North Korean crypto activity.
