Scientific Volunteering Takes Center Stage: Convenient City at the XIV All-Russian Congress of Young Scientists and Student Scientific Societies
The XIV All-Russian Congress of Young Scientists and Student Scientific Societies has concluded at the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech).
Over three days, the Congress featured 77 thematic sessions with 295 speakers, bringing together around 1,000 young researchers from 76 regions of Russia and representatives of 17 countries.
The final day focused on the Decade of Science and Technology in Russia. Daria Kasyanova, Head of the Convenient City phygital scientific volunteering project, spoke at the panel session "The Decade of Science and Technology: From Words to Action." She shared the project's experience in demonstrating how scientific volunteers contribute to research by collecting and validating data, participating in experiments, testing AI-based solutions, and supporting the preparation of scientific and analytical publications.
Daria Kasyanova also moderated the strategic session "Scientific Volunteering in Russia: Towards a Unified National Platform." Together with leading experts and Congress participants, the discussion focused on the concept of a unified digital platform designed to connect researchers and distributed volunteer communities, simplify access to scientific projects, ensure transparent recognition of volunteer contributions, and strengthen research collaboration.
For our team, it is especially important that scientific volunteering is now being recognized as an essential part of modern research infrastructure. In the era of big data, digital platforms enable large-scale data collection, connect participants across regions, and accelerate the journey from research hypothesis to scientific results.
Today, Convenient City brings together scientific volunteers from 73 regions of Russia, develops its own digital research tools, and implements interdisciplinary projects at the intersection of artificial intelligence, ecology, urban studies, VR/AR technologies, culture, and engineering.
We sincerely thank the Congress organizers, fellow experts, and participants for inspiring discussions and meaningful professional collaboration.
