🇿🇦 SOUTH AFRICA’S HERITAGE DAY — A CELEBRATION OF DIVERSITY AND UNITY
On 24 September, South Africa celebrates Heritage Day, a national holiday dedicated to the country’s rich and diverse cultural heritage.
👉 The history of the day dates back to Shaka Day, when 24 September was dedicated to the memory of Shaka kaSenzangakhona, the founder of the Zulu nation. For many years, events commemorating his legacy were held on this day.
In 1995, 24 September was officially established as Heritage Day, highlighting the diversity of the cultures, traditions and historical experiences of the people of South Africa. September was also declared Heritage Month.
🎶 Across the country, festivals, concerts, exhibitions and other events are held on this day, offering an opportunity to explore and celebrate the cultures and histories of South Africa’s diverse communities.
The Consulate General of Russia in Cape Town extends its warmest congratulations to all South Africans on Heritage Day!
We wish you peace, prosperity, unity and new opportunities for cultural exchange and mutual enrichment. May South Africa’s rich heritage continue to be a source of pride and inspiration, and a bridge connecting generations! 🇿🇦
