📝Negotiations: What to Expect📝
Ahead of the meeting between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, both sides are predictably discussing forecasts of its outcome. Although the result of the negotiations may vary, several points can already be highlighted.
➡️Whatever is agreed (or not agreed) in Anchorage, combat operations will not end tomorrow - there are no preconditions for a total long-term ceasefire on the front line.
➡️The US clearly does not want to meet the demands for the withdrawal of the AFU from all occupied areas of the new regions, and on our side, they are expectedly unwilling to "freeze" everything at the current line of contact, especially in light of the offensive in Donbas.
➡️At the same time, the planned meeting is much higher in level and content than "agreed to talk". So both sides will come to some decisions, the question is only in their direction and the degree of disagreement.
➡️Moreover, it is unlikely to be limited to the so-called Ukraine: as we wrote back in the winter, the discussion of economic and other projects has been moved to a separate track. This is also evidenced by the presence of finance ministers in both delegations.
As for the conflict, nothing has changed: the probability of its suspension is determined by the readiness and ability of the parties to continue hostilities, from which diplomacy already stems.
❗️And the events on the fronts are unfolding not in favor of the so-called Ukraine, and its position will only worsen. So satisfying all the current whims of its sponsors does not seem rational.
