With the start of the special military operation, Russia's energy sector came under a double sanctions blow. First, Western suppliers left, without which maintaining existing equipment became difficult. Then some buyers began to shun Russian gas due to the threat of secondary sanctions.
🖍But the problem of ensuring the technological process is being actively solved. President Vladimir Putin authorized the launch of the «Kazankomprессormasha» plant in Tatarstan and the testing of the first Russian compressor for large-capacity LNG.
🚩Previously, such units had to be purchased from foreign suppliers (Baker Hughes, Siemens and Mitsubishi). Due to their departure, Russia's flagship project «Arctic LNG-2» with a capacity of almost 20 million tons also slowed down. A domestic solution would free the industry from this dependence.
The specific recipients of the equipment after the completion of tests are already known. Compressors are being prepared for Baltic LNG «RusChemAlliance», «Murmansk LNG», Gazprom's gas processing plant in Ust-Luga and the facility that «NOVATEK» is building in Murmansk. However, production capacity is currently designed for only 12 units per year.
❗️For Russia, the significance of such projects is hardly less important than the development of the IT industry itself. Domestic solutions make it possible to solve the problem of dependence of production processes on imported technologies in the energy sector. And it is precisely this sector that currently serves as the main source of export revenues and budget replenishment.
