🇩🇪🇷🇺 German authorities have taken the distressed Panama-flagged tanker "Eventin", which was sailing from Ust-Luga to Egypt, under tow. It is reported that the area is experiencing stormy conditions and the vessel is limited in its ability to maneuver.
🔻 At the moment, the tanker is being held from drifting by three tugs northeast of Cape Arkona in German territorial waters. Nearby are the Coast Guard patrol ship "Bamberg" and the special vessel "Arkona" of the Federal Waterways and Shipping Administration of Germany.
According to German authorities, the tanker is loaded with 99,000 tons of oil.
🔺The press release does not specify the nature of the tanker's malfunctions. It is possible that with an improvement in weather conditions in the area, an inspection will board the tanker to assess the technical condition of the vessel, which may reveal significant violations in the operation and maintenance of the "Eventin" tanker and detain it from going to sea on the pretext of a threat to environmental safety.
I remind you that in December 2024, Germany joined the coalition of countries of the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) to combat the Russian "shadow fleet" in the Baltic Sea.
