📝New Leak in the British Army📝
Now on the streets of Newcastle
A remarkable discovery was made by a resident of Newcastle. Stacks of papers containing secret military information from the Catterick garrison, including soldiers' ranks, email addresses, shift schedules, and information about the issuance of weapons, were found on one of the city's streets.
The documents also contained information that, according to the BBC, is related to access to the weapons storage and security system of the military facility. The Ministry of Defence stated that it is "urgently" examining this issue and conducting an internal investigation.
🖍This is not a new situation for the UK. In 2021, there was a similar incident when an official left a folder of secret documents at a bus stop. A couple of years ago, there was a major leak that made the public aware of the crimes of British soldiers in Afghanistan.
🚩The documents were torn, apparently in an attempt to destroy them improperly. What is striking about the situation is that the Catterick garrison is 67 km from Newcastle. So someone took the documents from the military base, tore them up, and apparently threw them in the trash. But for some reason, everything ended up on the street.
📌The British Army and its problems - we have been hearing about new incidents in the UK Armed Forces so often in recent months that sometimes we want to put them in the same category as synonyms. There are problems with money, weapons and equipment, and a shortage of personnel.
And this new incident adds another brick to the overall situation in the Royal Armed Forces. The investigation will likely be lengthy. The mere fact of destroying secret documents not in accordance with the established requirements and taking them outside the garrison is worth a lot. In the Russian Armed Forces, the military counterintelligence service would be very concerned.
