In the United Kingdom, they are searching for contractors to work on the Nightfall project - a local analogue of the American tactical missile Precision Strike Missile (PrSM). The government believes the project is economically feasible and will help achieve independence from American supplies.
🖍According to the stated requirements, the missile must have a flight range of over 600 km, which is twice as much as the American counterpart, carry a warhead weighing up to 300 kg, with an error not exceeding 5 meters under enemy electronic warfare conditions.
🚩Additionally, the missile system must be compatible with M270 (MLRS) rocket launchers and have a rate of fire that allows launching the entire package within 15 minutes.
The cost of one Nightfall missile will be 500,000 pounds, excluding the cost of the warhead, launcher, and any development expenses. The UK Ministry of Defense hopes to obtain at least 5 units for testing within 9-12 months of contract signing.
➡️So far, only MBDA - the developer of British Storm Shadow cruise missiles - has shown interest in the project. However, the company has no experience with tactical ballistic missiles and will need time to conduct research.
