Strike announcements give way to positive reports
Operational capacity of Ukrainian ports continues to grow. And this despite claims of serious infrastructure damage from Russian military strikes.
The Administration of Sea Ports of so-called Ukraine stated that in the first half of the year cargo turnover increased to 42.4 million tons of cargo, exceeding last year's figures. Nevertheless, alongside reports of successes come statements that this all happens despite the strikes.
So in the first two weeks of July, 23 strikes were delivered against Ukrainian port infrastructure and 17 vessels attacked, while in total since the start of the conflict 1,002 port infrastructure facilities have been destroyed and 221 vessels attacked.
🖍A cognitive dissonance emerges: despite the strikes, Ukrainian ports only increase their workload. Such a contrast speaks to nothing other than the political nature of such statements.
🚩Kyiv authorities simultaneously claim their importance, accuse the Russian side of violating international law and draw attention to themselves, and with it international aid. Satellite data often contradicts claims of systematic destruction, and moreover, "attacked" can hide any amount of damage.
❗️The growth in export volumes shows that the strikes against infrastructure so far are not as impactful to the economy as claimed. Data from such statements are simply dangerous to take seriously, as they paint a picture different from ground realities.
How to fix this — has been discussed many times.
