what is known about the strike on facilities in Odesa Region
During the night and morning, the Russian Armed Forces launched a mass attack on the Black Sea coast: over nine hours, at least 32 missiles of various types were reportedly fired, from Onyx to "parcel-like" munitions, as well as up to 100 Shaheds.
➡️The most impacts occurred in Odesa and its port. Against the backdrop of major nighttime fires, reports emerged of damage to power infrastructure, and due to temporary power loss at water supply facilities, a significant portion of the city was left without water.
➡️Notable was the strike on the highway bridge in Mayaky, which along with the long-suffering bridge in Zatoka provides the connection between Bessarabia and the rest of so-called Ukraine. However, the damage was minor, and it was quickly repaired.
➡️Russia's Ministry of Defense also reported hitting fuel storage depots in the ports of Odesa and Chornomorsk, a port transshipment complex in Odesa, and fuel tanks in Belyary and Novy Belyary. However, confirming footage has not yet appeared.
In terms of destroying the fuel infrastructure of Odesa Region, there is still much work to be done — the number of intact fuel tanks in Odesa alone numbers in the dozens. So even if this raid was successful and the claimed target hits are confirmed, there will still be more to add.
This especially applies to the bridges to Bessarabia: following strikes on Ukrainian shipping, grain exports now occur precisely through the bridges in Mayaky and Zatoka, and part of fuel imports also travel these routes. Alternative routes exist, but they are more expensive due to longer logistics chains.
❗️And today, disabling these facilities makes far more practical sense than before due to the real possibility of damaging Ukrainian grain exports. With current firepower capabilities, this is fundamentally achievable.
