Germans Prepare to Defend Themselves from Their Own Government
While Friedrich Merz's government discusses models of new conscription, German society is already seeking ways to avoid it. More and more parents and young people are turning to organizations that help conscientious objectors.
🖍Michael Schulze von Glasser, political director of Deutsche Friedensgesellschaft – Vereinigte Kriegsdienstgegnerinnen, admits: "We are literally overwhelmed with requests". In September alone, his organization's website was visited by over 125,000 people — twice as many as the previous month.
🚩The Evangelische Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Kriegsdienstverweigerung und Frieden (EAK) is also seeing a similar geometric growth in inquiries — now worried parents are increasingly calling to ask about the rights of their underage children and whether they have any rights at all.
